Carpal tunnel syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is one of the most inconvenient conditions for if you have the syndrome it affects your normal daily activities. CTS involve the median nerve which is located inside your wrists.

In your wrist there is a space called carpal tunnel. This tunnel contains a few tendons and the median nerve which pass through it. It is a tiny passageway and any abnormality in the structures inside the tunnel can cause the space to be tightier which results to the compression of the median nerve.

When this median nerve gets compressed, there is the numbness and the tingling sensation felt by the sufferer. There is also the involvement of the palm of the hand. The little finger is not involved for the median nerve does not supply it.

If you have these symptoms it is best to consult your doctor in order to get a proper diagnosis. Some tests may need to be carried out in order to determine if you actually have the syndrome. Proper diagnosis is imperative because it will lead to the proper treatment management.

When you look for a carpal tunnel treatment, ensure that you are picking the right one in order to start the healing process. Using the wrong treatment can cause more harm to the nerve in your wrist.

Do not risk getting permanent nerve damage by using wrong hand exercises. Consult the expert before starting any treatment regimen.

Remember, when you get the tingling sensation and numbness of your fingers and the palm of your hand, consult your doctor immediately. Do not start any treatment regimen without consulting the doctor first to avoid permanent nerve damage.
